It's about time I "shared" my vet as I think she is absolutely brilliant! she is based in Wokingham, Berks but works for Kynoch vets. They have branches in Harmans Water, Yateley, Crowthorne and she sometimes works in one of those other branches. You can look at their website and get contact numbers. If you look at her profile, I don't think she mentions particularly gerbils but take it from me, she is very good with them. She told me she used to have pet gerbils and she is very good and confident at holding them with one hand, keeping the other free for doing what needs doing.
She has operated on Cookie for a scent gland removal and what she did is nothing short of miraculous!!! She used internal stitches and surgical glue, you could only see a thin line, that is the neatest scar I have never seen! She also operated on Joey who had a tumour in his ear canal and she actually cut off a whole section of the canal as the tumour was blocking his ear and he could not ear. She did internal stitches, you could harly see a thing, now Joey has an ear a bit lower than the other, that's all. To tell you the truth, I would not mind being operated on by her!!!
They are not cheap but vets down south are more expensive than up North! I am trying to remember how much I paid for scent gland removal, £150 if I am not mistaken, it does depend how long they have been under, though.
Forgot to say: I live in Farnborough, Hampshire and it takes me 30mins to travel there but it is well worth it!
