If anyone has been struggling to get onto the forum over this weekend like myself, it seems that proboards and various other websites have been blocked by Sky/Easynet. If you are having issues, you can access the forum on your Sky connection through this url - gerbilsuk.proboards15.com:8080/index.cgi

I've been having intermittent issues for a few days. And I'm using a dongle.

This block appears to have been lifted for proboards (as well as a few other sites), so everyone should now be able to access the forum.

I'm on Sky broadband and I experienced issues a few days ago (on Friday I think). When the forum (not the main website) eventually loaded it appeared to be hijacked with a fake virus scanner that looked like my OS telling me I had been compromised and to run this scan immediately...complete with authentic looking animations. Of course I hadn't got the virus yet, but I would have done if I'd fallen for it!
Looks like Proboards were hijacked, so it's probably a good thing we were all blocked for our own protection!

It seems that all of the proboards forums were blocked by Sky due to a single forum breaking TOS and allowing file sharing of some sort.
Withag, proboards check their adverts and don't allow viruses or suspicious websites to advertise on their boards, so I'd run a scan on your PC as a virus may be already installed from another site you've visited or downloaded off to advertise software. I've had this before and it eventually stopped my use of any internet explorers until I found and deleted it, but I have also have had my anti-virus software alert me on known safe sites, but in either case it's better to be safe than sorry!

There was a virus on probarods the other day. My browser picked up on it and closed and refused to load up this site after that. My pc also had a huge crash after that, but I don't know if it was from a virus or just because I hadn't turned it off for over a week. I was also playing a game and watching a movie at the same time so that could have had something to do with it as well.

Rest assured I scanned my PC immediately. (I make web systems for a living so believe me, regardless of Proboards' policy, where there is a will there is sadly often a way to get infected besides adverts.) I'm not saying conclusively that it was Proboards I just wanted to give people a heads up incase they encountered the same thing.
At least everything seems to be running again and we can get back to the more important matter of all things gerbil!
