I am new to this website and I have being trying to find out when your shows are?
I have a female gerbil aged 6 months who has just lost her friend! I need to know if it is right to get another little one for her to play with? and If so I want to go to a show to get one rather than a pet shop as I don't trust them
Thanks
Minky

When's the Reading one? My dad says we should check it out since it's not far from us.

last year's Reading show was in September, so this year's one will probably be around that time too

Yes, first weekend in September - probably the Saturday.

Last one listed is the Bradford Championship Show but that was in January.
If it's an NGS show, you need to be a member. Although you can join on the day, I'm not sure if you can make your entries in advance and *then* join on the day.
They usually publish the next 1-3 shows in the Nibbler, but I'm not sure offhand where my latest copy is (I still haven't had the one telling me to update my subscription, and I'm pretty sure it expired a year ago!)
The good news is that I should be getting a car this summer, so I can drive the gerbils to shows instead of trying to fit umpteen carry-cases on the London Underground (which they hate, incidentally).
I've emailed Julian to ask about the shows.
I live in Kent so the shows I go to should be the same as the ones you can reach (without a car, the only viable show for me was the Enfield show; I think I've attended that one three times - to get my original three gerbils, to show them and collect five more, and to show all of the above and get a pup to intro to a lone female).
Shows I can get to are few and far between at current, as evidenced by the fact that the breeder who sold me the pup at the last show I attended still hasn't got the carry-case she loaned me back. That was 10 months ago. *cringes* "The pup" is now a year old and mother of her own pups!
As far as I'm aware, possible locations for shows are Enfield (London area), Bradford, Reading and Stafford. (Anyone who knows better, correct me if I'm wrong).

Solitaire, if you get a reply from Julian would you mind posting details here? I sometimes pop into the Enfield shows but I haven't had a Nibbler for ages so have no idea when the next show is.
I've been to the Reading show before and it's great for a day out as there's so much there. Unfortunately I have two kids under the age of two now so organising a day trip is a bit of a nightmare - hence I think I'll skip it this year!

Have just realised that the above post reads as though I think it's unfortunate that I have kids! - obviously I mean it's unfortunate that I can't get to the Reading show

Have just realised that the above post reads as though I think it's unfortunate that I have kids! - obviously I mean it's unfortunate that I can't get to the Reading show lol ;D I was planning on posting it up here anyway. It's more fun with more people there. Don't really want half the contestants to be mine! Although I guess I'd stand a better chance of winning then! I think I'd probably be taking everyone except Petie, Jonae and Isla. Jonae has a tendency to shoot off over your shoulder if startled, Isla (very rarely but with no warning) fits and has a slow recovery time and Petie somehow managed to cut herself on something in the tank and hasn't healed up yet. Amazing that she was the only one of the three who managed it. I removed all metal pokey bits from all the toys in there so hopefully I won't be in for a repeat performance.

Have you had any reply regarding the Enfield show yet, Solitaire?
There's still no update on the shows page of the NGS site.
